HIV disproportionately affects adolescent girls and young women (AGYW) due to a range of social and structural factors such as early sexual debut, early and forced marriage and childbirth, sexual relationships with older men, economic pressure for transactional sex, and restricted ability to negotiate condom use.
The ACHAP youth program addresses factors that contribute to AGYW vulnerability through education, economic empowerment, social asset building training and linkage to services. To encourage access ACHAP adopted the youth-friendly health service model (YFS) as a one-stop shop for services. The program targets out of school youth aged 15-24 years
