Community Strengthening Systems

  • Goal

    Program Goal (RSSH)

    The goal of CSS/RSSH is to achieve improved health outcomes by developing the role of key affected populations and communities and of community-based organizations in the design, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of services and activities related to the prevention of HIV, tuberculosis, malaria and other major health challenges and the treatment, care and support of people affected by these diseases.

    1. To increase accessibility, uptake and effective use of services to improve the health and well-being of communities;
    2. To improve programming informed by evidence and responsive to community experience and knowledge;
    3. To engage directly to communities to address public health concerns in the community

  • Governance

    Program Governance

    1. The focus is on the general population within the GF geographic area supported
    2. Engagement of community gatekeepers such as Dikgosi, VDC, Councillors, Hospitals, clinics, health post and other stakeholders.
    3. Community assessment to improve skill gaps in structures and leadership.
    4. Vertical and longitudinal referrals to other GF supported modules such as AGYW, KPs, HRLB & VMMC.

    Foundational Activities

    1. Conduct health education and promotion in different forum -health awareness campaigns (mall activations)
    2. Conduct community health dialogues for different groups (Youth and Adolescents, Man & Women Pitso, health talks
    3. Conduct Community led/participatory assessments of community needs.
    4. Conduct quarterly 1/2-day sensitization meetings with DMSAC.
    5. Capacity building for community leadership.
