ACHAP partners with the Lesotho National AIDS Commission
Maseru, Lesotho, November 2, 2016 – ACHAP and the Lesotho National AIDS Commission(NAC) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding in order to improve the overall state of health, HIV/AIDS prevention, treatment and other health related interventions in the Kingdom of LESOTHO. Through the MoU ACHAP will strengthen the cooperation with the people of the Kingdom of Lesotho and deepen the partnership through greater engagement while leveraging ACHAP’s experience and core competencies to accelerate the HIV/AIDS National Response in the Kingdom of Lesotho.
The MOU commits the two institutions to share knowledge and expertise relating to HIV prevention, treatment and other health related interventions at all levels. They will dialogue on joint strategic priorities to identify high impact strategic initiatives and innovative solutions for overcoming institutional and other bottlenecks for effective implementation. Amongst others ACHAP shall provide technical and consultative support to the Government of Lesotho through the NAC directly or indirectly through contracting of consultants. Additionally ACHAP will assist in the implementation of plans identified in collaboration with concerned stakeholders that shall be designed to help achieve the objectives of NAC.
In expressing her appreciation for the enormous experience ACHAP has in implementing programmes, the NAC Chief Executive, Mrs. Keratile Thabana said, “we are honoured to fly on the wings of an eagle that has already learnt how to fly high yet able to come down to drink and feed the young ones.” The signing of MoU is part of ACHAP’s ten year business strategy to transition the organisation to an independent NGO funded by multiple income streams, operating in multiple African markets, and delivering wider health interventions. ACHAP has already signed two Memoranda of Agreement with the government of Botswana and the government of the Kingdom of Swaziland.
